Pinturas Popular has come to the rescue of the iconic floral clock at the entrance of the Santo Domingo Botanical Gardens. The decorative clock has been out of order since 1998 when it was severely damaged during Hurricane Georges that pummeled the country. The clock measures 20 meters diameter and was designed by Italian clocksmith Giovanni Abramo.<\/p>\n<p>Ricardo Garc\u00eda, director of the Botanical Gardens, says the cost of the repair is estimated at RD$2 million began in early November and will take around three months. Pinturas Popular executive vice president Rub\u00e9n Acevedo, and electronics expert Anthony Paulino of Innovaciones, are working on the restoration effort. The project engineer from Tecnol\u00f3gicas Dominicana is in charge of restarting the clock.
