PRSC legislator Victor (Ito) Bison\u00f3 joined those who favor that the position of Attorney General be<\/g> removed from the National Council of Magistracy. Interviewed on Consensuando, hosted by Gustavo S\u00e1nchez, V\u00edctor D\u2019 Aza and Digna Reynoso on Channel 19, Cinevisi\u00f3n, he remarked that present incumbent Jean Alain Rodr\u00edguez has injected politics into the national body responsible for choosing national judges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bison\u00f3, who is a presidential pre-candidate for his party, says that the attorney general breaks the balance in the National Council of Magistracy. He said that the attorney general is named by the President and is the only one who is a subordinate to the President. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bison\u00f3 said that the attorney general was originally not part of the National Council of the Magistracy. He said the position was added when the Blue Ties Agreement was signed between former President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez and the president of the Partido Revolucionario Dominicano, Miguel Vargas Maldonado, in 2010. The intention then was to give an extra vote to the President, he explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“That is a Council where everyone is equal except the attorney general because Reinaldo is not the boss of Paliza, Reinaldo has the administration of the Senate. Camacho is not Josefa’s boss; he is the administration of the Chamber of Deputies. The President is the President and the others are the president of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Supreme Court secretary, who are included by delegation, but the attorney general is appointed by the President, and this gives the President a majority that has allowed to bring politics to justice,” said the PRSC politician. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about the Jean Alain Rodr\u00edguez questioning of Attorney General Jean Alain Rodr\u00edguez to judge Miriam Germ\u00e1n Brito, Bison\u00f3 said:
\n“I lament that a young man like Jean Alain, who has been given the opportunity to be the attorney general, violated the regulations,\u201d said Bison\u00f3. He also criticized that the President of the Republic, who presided the Council hearing, who also was aware of the regulation, did not stop the questioning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
