Speaking at the activity, she remarked that in 2018 some 4,026 people had contracted the disease in the Dominican Republic. Of <g class=\"gr_ gr_8 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace\" id=\"8\" data-gr-id=\"8\">these 21.7%<\/g> also had HIV. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rodr\u00edguez said that 67.7% of the patients were men and the rest women, with a mortality rate during the year of 1.8%, according to the Ministry of Public Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are 1,609 government centers for treating tuberculosis.  Rodr\u00edguez said that the early detection and treatment of the disease remains a challenge.
