The residencies are required of those that will do internships prior to graduating. Students of the state university, the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Santo Domingo (UASD), the largest <g class=\"gr_ gr_10 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling\" id=\"10\" data-gr-id=\"10\">medicine<\/g> school in the country, only surpassed those of the Universidad Central del Este (UCE) in San Pedro de Macor\u00eds.
