Nearly seven out of every ten Dominicans approve of the DR-CAFTA free trade agreement. According to the Penn, Shoen & Berland survey, all the political parties favor the deal and expect it to have a positive impact on the nation. According to El Caribe, the survey shows PLD members as more favorable to the treaty than, say the PRSC party members, by a 77% to 70% margin. Curiously, the PRD party faithful, from the party that negotiated the treaty in the first place, are less favorable nowadays with just 61% approving of the FTA. According to Penn, Shoen & Berland, the younger population approves more emphatically than the older generation.
