In the pre-inauguration games, the Dominican women handball team defeated Peru 46-16 (22-7\/24-9). The event is a qualifier for the Tokyo Olympics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In men\u2019s beach volleyball, the duo of Alejandro Medina and William S\u00e1nchez defeated Peruvians Gabriel V\u00e1squez and Bruno Seminario 2-0 (21-11\/21-14). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dominican delegation to the Pan Am Games is 214 athletes, 128 men and 86 women. These will compete in 36 sports.
