Speed kills. That is a truism borne out nearly daily on the roadways of the Dominican Republic. At the end of last week, three more young men were missing from their family\u2019s dinner table. All three died on the north coast highway between Sos\u00faa and R\u00edo San Juan in three different incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fabi\u00e1n Bonilla died when the motorcycle he was riding, a CG 125, crashed into a Hyundai mini-bus on the highway between Sos\u00faa and Cabarete. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Luis Mena Suero (Morocho), who lived in Sos\u00faa Abajo, perished from the injuries suffered in a single-car accident on the road between Gaspar Hern\u00e1ndez and R\u00edo San Juan. According to witnesses, he lost control of the speeding vehicle when he attempted to avoid a pothole in the highway. He crashed his Honda Civic into a tree near the Bah\u00eda Prinicipe-Playa Magante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, a 17-year old known only as Mario died as he raced his moped (illegally) on the road between Cabarete and Sabaneta de Y\u00e1sica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is no news that the Dominican Republic has the highest traffic fatality rate in the world among nations with over 100 kilometers of roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
