The cold room will allow for inspecting perishables entering or leaving the country in an environment with optimal temperatures to avoid the deterioration of the goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The facility is a boost to the country&#8217;s competitiveness. &#8220;By ensuring the cold chain, we will be able to reach the most demanding markets with our fruits, our vegetables and our livestock products,&#8221; said the president of HIT, Erik Alma, during the inauguration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Present were Agriculture Minister Osmar Ben\u00edtez, the director of the Customs Agency Enrique Ram\u00edrez, US Ambassador Robin Bernstein and other officials and business people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ambassador Bernstein noted during the event that the US Department of Agriculture Quality Export Program assisted with the installation of the chamber.
