The Tax Agency (DGII) says that as of Monday, 30 September 2019 the “marbetes” or vehicular circulation permits, will be sold to those with pending traffic fines in the system. The announcement comes after hundreds of people had complained that they had been victims of fake traffic violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many persons told El Nacional reporters that when they went to pay for their vehicle’s drive permit, they were told they would first have to clear their traffic fines. For many, this was the first time they had heard of the infractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those who have fines can dispute these in one of 18 traffic courts nationwide. In Greater Santo Domingo, there is the Digesett main office at Expreso V Centenario at the corner of Av. San Mart\u00edn in Villa Juana. There are also Digesett offices in Higuey, La Romana, Monte Plata, San Crist\u00f3bal, Ban\u00ed, Barahona, San Juan de la Maguana, Bonao, San Francisco de Macor\u00eds, Moca, Santiago, La Vega, Jarabacoa, Puerto Plata and Montecristi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The traffic courts have been offering deals with reduced rates for those with several fines. The government has also made it easy to pay online or at Banco de Reservas tellers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
