The leading contenders were Luis Abinader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Gonzalo Castillo and Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luis Abinader<br>\nThe JCE revealed that the presidential candidate for the PRM, Luis Abinader, reported having spent RD$58,185,853 on 6 October, the actual day of the primaries, which accounted for 66.8% of his total expenditure for the whole campaign. During the entire campaign, Abinader received income of around RD$114, 234,237 and spent RD$114,386,168. He reported spending around RD$151,930 more that he had received. Most of the amount was spent on political activities, around RD$76 million, which accounted for 66.8%. Of the income, around $40 million was his own money, for 37.2% and his friends and relations provided RD$67 million that accounted for 62.7%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez<br>The financial report for former President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez, running for the PLD, shows that between 7 July and 6 October, the day of the primaries, he spent RD$293 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Fern\u00e1ndez team had an income of RD$291 million, which came from raffles (RD$149 million), cocktail parties (RD$53 million), dinners (RD$51 million) and RD$38 million from lunches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the expenditure was in general events, followed by publicity and propaganda, followed by operational expenses and salaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gonzalo Castillo<br>The PLD presidential candidate Gonzalo Castillo said in his report that he could not complete the figures due to technical difficulties but that it would be submitted in the future. He said that the details of income and expenditure were available in his offices, if the JCE wanted to go and look at them. It states that he obtained RD$395 million in support, another RD$18 million for support of his candidacy and RD$631,000 for other income, leading to a total of around RD$414 million.
