The study released by the National Institute for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Nutrition (INDEN) and ratified by the Pan American Health Organization shows that 13.34% of the population is diabetic and 9.3% is pre-diabetic (or 2.2 million people).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statistics show an upward trend for diabetes in the country. INDEN receives 20-30 adults and 10-12 children each day as new patients and this adds up to about 1,000 per month. The best and worst of this case is that the INDEN has a list of 500 children with type 2 diabetes.
