As part of the NUVI recycling initiative, \u201cNuvi Points\u201d have been identified for the deposit of plastic bottles by the general public. The Nuvi initiative was launched last week by the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The purpose is to mitigate the contamination by plastics. Nuvi is described as the country\u2019s ” largest private alliance that seeks to create a culture of reduction, reuse, recycling and use of waste.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program is sponsored by at least 27 organizations and private companies that seek to recover small plastic bottles and then convert them into raw material for new products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far the first Nuvi Points are available at:

\nSunix gas station on Av. Kennedy
\nPUCMM university graduate area on Avenida Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar
\nUniversidad Nacional Pedro Henr\u00edquez Ure\u00f1a on Avenida John F. Kennedy
\nTropigas fuel station at 27 de Febrero;
\n\u00c1gora Mall on Kennedy Avenue
\nJumbo store at Av. Luper\u00f3n
\nSunix gas station at Av. Tiradentes
\nSupermercados Nacional on N\u00fa\u00f1ez de C\u00e1ceres Avenue and 27 de Febrero with Abraham Lincoln
\nSunix 27 de Febrero gas station
\nIntec university on Los Pr\u00f3ceres Avenue
\nPolyplas Dominicana located on Anibal de Espinosa Street
\nSunix gas station at Av. Winston Churchill<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program stresses that by depositing the plastic bottles in these places, each Dominican will be able to be part of this initiative and contribute to transforming the problem of plastics into an opportunity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
