The second round poll is scheduled for Sunday, 28 June 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Businessman Abinader still needs more votes to defeat the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) that has been in power for 16 consecutive years and has chosen former Public Works Minister Gonzalo Castillo for presidential candidate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gallup-Hoy says if the presidential elections were held on the day the person was polled, 42% would vote for the PRM\u2019s Abinader 31.4% for the PLD\u2019s Gonzalo Castillo and 15.5% for former President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez of the People\u2019s Force, the new organization that was created after the split within the PLD following the 6 October 2019 party primary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To the question, \u201cWho do you think will win?,\u201d 44.8% answered Abinader; 31.7% Castillo; and 11.9% former President Fern\u00e1ndez. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The poll was from 16-21 January 2020.
