Public Health Minister Rafael S\u00e1nchez C\u00e1rdenas said that the five travelers who had arrived after being recently in China and who were isolated at the Ram\u00f3n de Lara Military Hospital were released after it was confirmed they did not have the coronavirus. Of 17 travelers, the five were kept under observation following the protocols in the case of highly contagious viruses. The others were under domiciliary monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public Health Minister Rafael S\u00e1nchez C\u00e1rdenas recommended against traveling to China to avoid the coronavirus. The US State Department also issued a travel recommendation asking US citizens and residents not to travel to China due to the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia (NCP) first identified in Wuhan, China. It cites that on 30 January 2020, the World Health Organization had determined the outbreak was spreading rapidly and is a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said there are five hospitals in the Dominican Republic that can treat patients with coronavirus. These are Hospital General y de Especialidades Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de la Altagracia in Hig\u00fcey; the Ram\u00f3n de Lara Military Hospital of the Air Force in eastern Santo Domingo; the Marcelino V\u00e9lez public hospital in western Santo Domingo; the Cabral y B\u00e1ez public hospital in Santiago and the Ricardo Limardo in Puerto Plata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Public Health says that passengers arriving after a stopover in China, regardless of their nationality, will only be admitted when they fly into Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) or Las Americas International Airport (SDQ), the country\u2019s two main airports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
