Political analyst Carlos Dor\u00e9 Cabral wrote last week in Hoy newspaper that the Partido de la Liberaci\u00f3n Dominicana (PLD) presidential candidate, Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez, has said he is against abortion for any reason, even those of a claimed therapeutic nature. His position contradicts that of party members, Doctors Guzm\u00e1n and Kasse Acta who voiced different views in debates on the Public Health Law in Congress. Furthermore, seeking the favor or neutrality of the Catholic Church, Mr Fern\u00e1ndez has not attended any events organized by the evangelical sects.
