President Balaguer has appointed a committee that will supervise the European Union funded program to support private investment in mining. The Comit\u00e9 de Supervisi\u00f3n del Programa de Desarrollo Geol\u00f3gico y Minero is now in charge of channeling some RD$3331.3 million in assistance from the European Union in support of the domestic private sector and foreign companies that seek to participate in the development of mining in the Dominican Republic. This organization is presided over by the Minister of Industry and Commerce. Other members are the Ordenador Nacional de Lom\u00e9, and designated representatives of Rosario Dominicana, Direcci\u00f3n General de Miner\u00eda, CORDE and INDRHI.
