Last week, the former judge of the Junta Central Electoral and present president of the Academia Dominicana de la Historia, Dr Julio Genaro Campillo P\u00e9rez, said that he has established that the parents of Jos\u00e9 Francisco Pe\u00f1a G\u00f3mez were Dominicans. He said that they were Ogis Vicente and Mar\u00eda Marcelino, who in the 1930s resided in Loma de Guayacanes. The c\u00e9dula of Vicente was number 3582-45. He said that he found proof that Dr Pe\u00f1a G\u00f3mez was born in 1937, and that his parents were then living in Loma de Guayacanes. Jos\u00e9 Francisco Pe\u00f1a G\u00f3mez was raised by Regino Pe\u00f1a y Fermina G\u00f3mez, as it is believed that his parents fled to Haiti during the purge of Haitians by the Trujillo regime. He was later brought up on the farm of the parents of Fernando Alvarez Bogaert, his vice presidential candidate.
