Maria Luz Garcia Varona, the young woman whose name surfaced, during the questioning of Mario Jose Redondo Llenas, one of the confessed killers of young Jose Rafael Llenas Aybar, as the proposed victim of a kidnap attempt which was never carried out, was interviewed by Judge Alexis Henriquez Nunez. According to the Listin Diario newspaper, Miss Garcia Varona admitted that the alleged mastermind of the kidnapping scheme, Luis Martin Palma Meccia, who is the son of former Argentine Ambassador to the D.R., Teresa Meccia de Palma, called her on several occasions to ask her out. She said that while she did go out on a regular basis with large groups that included Mr. Palma Meccia, they never were alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
Mr. Palma Meccia’s name has come up frequently in Mr. Redondo Llenas’ statements to Judge Henr\u00edquez N\u00fa\u00f1ez, and he has been wanted for questioning in possible connection with the brutal murder of 12-year-old Jose Rafael, who allegedly was stabbed 34 times by his cousin Mr. Redondo Llenas and Juan Manuel Moline Rodriguez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
It is unlikely, however, that Mr. Palma Meccia who, it is said, left the country the day before the murder of Jose Rafael, will be forced to return to the D.R. for questioning, according to Dominican Foreign Minister Caonabo Javier Castillo. It has been reported that his mother, Mrs. Meccia de Palma, has been transferred to Honduras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
In related news, Judge Henr\u00edquez Nu\u00f1ez ordered a raid on the apartment of a friend of Mr. Moline Rodriguez, Jorge Luis Rodr\u00edguez, where the former is reported to have spent the night before the murder.
