President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez has raised his salary, the vice president’s, the Junta Central Electoral (JCE) judges, the president of the supreme court, the senate and the chamber of deputies, as well as the ministers and high rank military officers. Through decree 485-96, President Fern\u00e1ndez increased his salary from RD$3,500 to RD$90,000 monthly, and the vice president’s to RD$70,000. The JCE judges, the national attorney general, the ministers and other executives of the same level, will now earn RD$50,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
The decree also raises the salaries for ex-presidents to RD$60,000 and their widows to RD$50,000; RD$45,000 for deputy ministers and executives of the same rank.
