The president of the Ayuntamiento del Distrito Nacional and other key figures in the municipality of Santo Domingo are proposing that the city’s council, health authorities and the National Police create a “red light” zone, i.e. an area where prostitution is tolerated. Dr. Andr\u00e9s Henr\u00edquez, president of the Ayuntamiento and engineer Miguel Sanz Jimini\u00e1n and Lic. Andr\u00e9s Ayala Portoreal, aldermen for the PRSC and PRD, support the proposal. They say that all modern cities have such zones.
