Santiago leads with the most new cases from the previous Sunday. Some 10,448 PCR diagnostic tests are accounted for in the official statistical bulletin that covers up to 13 April 2020 at 6pm. The Dominican Republic has a population of more than 10 million people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most confirmed PCR cases are in the National District and Santo Domingo Province (Greater Santo Domingo), Santiago, Duarte, La Vega and Puerto Plata provinces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of 13 April at 6pm, the largest increase in cases were reported for Santiago (36), Santo Domingo province (18), the National District (11), Duarte (15), Espaillat \/Moca (10), La Vega (9), Monse\u00f1or Nouel \/ Bonao (7), Puerto Plata (6). Hermanas Mirabal \/ Salcedo reported three new cases, La Romana, two new cases, and La Altagracia \/ Higuey\/ Veron \/ Punta Cana and Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez \/ Nagua reported 1 case each. There were no cases confirmed in 20 of 32 provinces and the National District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has announced it has stepped up testing with the arrival of donations of rapid response blood tests. These tests are not accounted for in the statistical bulletin yet. The increase in testing and the incorporation of clinical diagnostics into the positive confirmed cases statistics will give the government a better grasp of where the Dominican Republic is at in the fight against the epidemic, Public Health Minister Dr. Rafael S\u00e1nchez C\u00e1rdenas reaffirmed in the 14 April press conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Bulletin #26 of the Ministry\u2019s Epidemiology Department, the evolution of the health crisis nationwide is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>National District: 959 cases, 11 new cases, 22 deaths, including 1 new death<br>Santo Domingo province: 564 cases, 18 new cases, 30 deaths, including 1 new death<br>Santiago: 439 cases, 36 new cases, 14 deaths<br>Duarte (San Francisco de Macor\u00eds): 315 cases, 15 new cases, 61 deaths, including 4 new deaths<br>La Vega: 209 cases, 9 new cases, 6 deaths<br>Puerto Plata: 93 cases, 6 new cases, 8 deaths<br>Monse\u00f1or Nouel (Bonao): 86 cases, 7 new cases, 3 deaths<br>Espaillat (Moca, Gaspar Hern\u00e1ndez): 82 cases, 10 new cases, 3 deaths<br>La Altagracia (Higuey, Veron, Punta Cana): 70 cases, 1 new case, 1 death<br>San Crist\u00f3bal: 66 cases, 5 new cases, 2 deaths<br>La Romana: 62 cases, 2 new cases, 1 death<br>S\u00e1nchez Ram\u00edrez (Cotu\u00ed): 58 cases, 5 deaths<br>Hermanas Mirabal \/ Salcedo: 58 cases, 3 new cases, 9 deaths<br>San Pedro de Macor\u00eds: 38 cases, 7 deaths<br>Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez \/ Nagua: 39 cases, 1 new case, 1 death<br>San Juan de la Maguana: 20 cases, 3 deaths<br>Peravia: 25 cases, 1 death<br>Valverde: 18 cases<br>Barahona: 15 cases<br>Saman\u00e1: 15 cases, 1 death<br>Azua: 15 cases, 1 death<br>Montecristi: 9 cases<br>Santiago Rodr\u00edguez: 8 cases<br>Hato Mayor: 8 cases, 1 death<br>Monte Plata: 5 cases, 2 deaths<br>Pedernales: 3 cases<br>El Seibo: 3 cases<br>Dajab\u00f3n: 1 case<br>Independencia: 1 case<br>Baoruco: 1 case<br>San Jos\u00e9 de Ocoa: 1 case, 1 death<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El\u00edas Pi\u00f1a remains the only province with no reported cases of Covid-19 as of 13 April 2020 at 6pm, as reported in Bulletin #26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Haiti reports 40 confirmed cases and 3 deaths as of 13 April 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Public Health Minister Dr. Rafael S\u00e1nchez C\u00e1rdenas said the increase in deaths is because statistics were updated after it was verified that probable coronavirus deaths should be tallied as such.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the story in Spanish:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Z_cCKoRwrYs\">You Tube<\/a> &#8211; Ministry of Public Health press conference<br><a href=\"https:\/\/coronavirusrd.gob.do\/wp-cont\u20265-COVID-19.pdf\">Coronavirusrd<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15 April 2020<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to Coronavirus Bulletin #26, the Dominican Republic has 3,286 confirmed cases, 119 new cases and 183 deaths.
