According to Coronavirus Bulletin #71 of the Ministry of
Public Health’s Department of Epidemiology, the Dominican Republic has 16,531
confirmed cases, 463 new confirmed cases and 488 deaths, including 3 new
deaths. 2,194 patients are hospitalized. 106 patients are in intensive care
units. The results are from 76,930 PCR diagnostic tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pan American Health Organization says that the country needs to continue to show consistency in testing before further easing activity restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statistical reports do not include results from rapid response blood antibody tests or patients diagnosed with tomography or other
means. The Dominican Republic has a population of more than 10 million people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of Thursday, 28 May 2020 at 6pm, the most confirmed cases continue to be reported in the Santo Domingo Province and the National District (around 50%), Santiago, San Cristobal, La Vega, Duarte (San Francisco
de Macor\u00eds), Espaillat, La Romana, Puerto Plata, La Altagracia (Higuey, Ver\u00f3n, Punta Cana), Monse\u00f1or Nouel (Bonao), S\u00e1nchez Ram\u00edrez (Cotu\u00ed) and Azua. The other provinces report 200 or less cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The largest increases in new confirmed cases were reported for the Santo Domingo Province (174), National District (133), San Crist\u00f3bal (40), Santiago (18), Barahona (17), La Altagracia (14), La Romana (10), Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez (7), El Seibo (6), Monse\u00f1or Nouel (4), Duarte (4), La Vega (2), and Puerto Plata (2) and Independencia (2). The Ministry of Public Health reports 1 or less confirmed cases in 16 of 31 provinces and the National District. Greater Santo Domingo (National District and Santo Domingo Province) has around 50% of all cases nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Santo Domingo province: 4,322 cases, 174 new cases, 82 deaths<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National District: 4,268 cases, 133 new cases, 74 deaths, 2 new deaths<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Santiago: 1,434 cases, 18 new cases, 75 deaths, 2 new deaths<\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Crist\u00f3bal: 950 cases, 40 new cases, 21 deaths<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Vega: 889 cases, 2 new cases, 28 deaths<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duarte (San Francisco de Macor\u00eds): 785 cases, 4 new cases, 84 deaths<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Espaillat (Moca, Gaspar Hern\u00e1ndez): 550 cases, 1 new case, 8 deaths<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Romana: 479 cases, 10 new cases, 10 deaths<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Puerto Plata: 351 cases, 2 new cases, 23 deaths<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Altagracia (Higuey, Ver\u00f3n, Punta Cana): 354 cases, 14 new cases, 2 deaths<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monse\u00f1or Nouel (Bonao): 340 cases, 4 new cases, 4 deaths<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Americas, the Dominican Republic is ranked 9th in confirmed cases after the United States, Brazil, Peru, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Ecuador and Colombia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
