Nevertheless, Isaias, the tropical storm that crossed over the Dominican Republic on Thursday-Friday (30-31 July 2020), forced thousands to evacuate.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the major damages occurred in the eastern part of the country. Hato Mayor was the most hardest hit province. Saman\u00e1 also saw a lot of damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>General Juan Manuel Mendez, director of the Center for Emergency Operations, said Tropical Storm Isaias isolated 28 communities and more than a thousand homes damaged. Some 5,210 people were evacuated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>General Mendez explained the damages were from flooding. \u201cThere are many rivers that have risen in the east, northeast and the Cibao,\u201d he said.
