The changes are effective starting 14 November. Citizens are given several weeks to get accustomed.

Changes are being made in the neighborhoods of Serrallés, Piantini, Yolanda Morales and El Paraíso that are east of Winston Churchill. Roads that are changing direction are the José Amado Soler, Filomena Gómez de Cova, Freddy Prestol Castillo, David Ben Gurión and Central streets, among others. This project will take place in November and December.

Meanwhile, to the west of the Churchill, there will be changes in the neighborhoods of Evaristo Morales, Los Prados, Los Praditos, Ensanche Quisqueya, Las Praderas and El Millón. These will start in late December through January. The roads that will be changing the direction of circulation are: Max Henríquez Ureña, Polibio Díaz, Gustavo Mejía Ricart, Dr. Defilló, Teodoro Chasseriau, Biblioteca Nacional, Presa de Bao, Paseo de Los Locutores, Eugenio Deschamps, among others.

The city government is working jointly with the National Transit and Traffic Institute (Intrant) on the project. Traffic light time plans are to be modified and adapted to manage mobility in this area. Routes will be notified to real time mobility applications such as Waze, Google Maps, among others.

The changes seek a reduction of 30% in traffic delays, 5% savings in fuel and 60% in carbon emissions. Most important, they seek to reduce accidents.

Read more in Spanish:
National District government

Diario Libre

9 November 2020

The National District city government announced signage is going up to implement the changing of road direction plan. 42 road sections in the Polígono Central, a major commercial and residential area in Santo Domingo, are changing vehicular circulation direction.
