He explained the recent heavy rains have been a blessing. He said drinking water production has been steady at above 400 million gallons a day, even when some systems have temporarily shutdown due to water turbidity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Salcedo spoke of the Haina-Manoguayabo, Isa-Mana-Duey, Barrena de Salinidad, Isabela, and the eastern Santo Domingo aqueducts. He also mentioned the Valdesia-Higuey system. He observed that, for instance, Valdesia and Jig\u00fcey turbines have been operating 24 hours a day, because Nizao and Maomita rivers, which feed this complex, are producing more water than the demand for both drinking water and agricultural irrigation.
