The Licey Tigers won the game against the Escogido Lions (8-3) at the Quisqueya Ball Park in Santo Domingo. A Dominican President hadn\u2019t done so since 1978, when the late President Antonio Guzm\u00e1n did the honors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vice President Raquel Pe\u00f1a did the same in Santiago, for the opening game between the Gigantes del Cibao and the Aguilas Cibae\u00f1as. The Gigantes won 8-5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Estrellas Orientales vs. Toros del Este game that would have opened the season in La Romana was suspended due to heavy rains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The games are televised and streamed on the Internet.
