President Luis Abinader convened on Tuesday, 1 December 2020 the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM) to assess judges and appoint the high courts’ members. The high courts are the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court of Justice, the Superior Electoral Court and the Superior Administrative Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The legal advisor to the Executive Power, Antoliano Peralta Romero, announced made the announcement during a press conference at the Presidential Palace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Legal advisor Peralta said that the first session of the National Council of the Magistracy is scheduled for Thursday, 3 December 2020 at 6pm in the Presidential Palace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The members of the CNM convened are:
The president of the Senate, Eduardo Estrella.
The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco
Senator Bautista Rojas
Deputy Victor Manuel Fadul
Luis Henry Molina, president of the Supreme Court of Justice
Magda Nancy Salcedo Fern\u00e1ndez, Supreme Court of Justice
Attorney General of the Republic, Miriam Germ\u00e1n Brito<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CNM needs to replace four retiring judges of the Constitutional Court (Constitutional Court judges Herm\u00f3genes Acosta, Ana Isabel Bonilla, Wilson G\u00f3mez Ram\u00edrez and Katia Miguelina Jim\u00e9nez), choose the presiding judge of the Superior Electoral Court and alternate, and decide on whether Francisco Ortega Polanco is to continue at the Supreme Court of Justice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
