Superior Education Minister Franklin Garc\u00eda Ferm\u00edn presented the year&#8217;s National Research of the Year Award to Graciela Godoy, a UNPHU graduate agricultural engineer with master&#8217;s degrees in plant pathology from Auburn University in Alabama and biological sciences doctorate from Nebraska-Lincoln University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, 392 new members were incorporated to the National Science, Technology and Innovation Researchers Career. Minister Garc\u00eda Ferm\u00edn said the accredited country science researchers are now 1,203.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A press release says that Alberto N\u00fa\u00f1ez Sell\u00e9s, Jes\u00fas Gilberto Concepci\u00f3n and Mar\u00eda Penkova Vassileva won the Gustavo Rathe Medicacelli Award. They represent physical-chemical sciences, applications and frontiers, earth and space sciences, water and atmosphere, mathematics and computer sciences and educational mathematics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The list of award winners includes Omar Pa\u00edno Perdomo and Ricardo Guarionex Garc\u00eda Garc\u00eda, winners of the Eugenio de Jes\u00fas Marcano Award in Biological and Environmental Sciences, and in Molecular Biology, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the food services sector, Modesto Reyes Valent\u00edn received the Andr\u00e9 Vioebergh Award, and \u00c1ngel Rafael Gonz\u00e1lez Medina, from health sciences, received the Sergio Bencosme Ruiz Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eduardo Sagredo Robles was awarded the Alvaro Nadal Pastor for excellence in engineering sciences, including computer science, related and emerging fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Intec-Farco-Rockwel-Plastics Multiform consortium was recognized for the air-tec project, to develop mechanical respirators to combat Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The jury for the awards were Sixto Joaqu\u00edn Inch\u00e1ustegui Miranda, Roberto Arias Milla and Emilia Guzm\u00e1n de Mercedes, businessman Jaime Moreno Portalat\u00edn, and the vice-minister of Science and Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read more in Spanish:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/hoy.com.do\/cientificos-reconocidos-por-sus-investigaciones-y-sus-aportes\/\">Hoy<\/a><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13 December 2020<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Superior Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT) presented the new members of the National Career of Researchers in Science, Technology and Innovation 2020 at an event held at the Modern Art Museum auditorium.
