The groups commit to the performances when the pandemic allows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pe\u00f1a Guaba said the criteria to choose the artists was &#8220;those that are most popular.&#8221; He said their political affiliation was not an issue. He said some selected artists are not interested in the deal. Others will be named in their places. Regarding other artists that were not benefited, he said &#8220;the government cannot do magic.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on El Gobierno de la Ma\u00f1ana on Z101.3 radio talk show, Pe\u00f1a Guaba said in past years the Medina administration had regularly made available RD$200 million to support the artistic sector during the Christmas holidays. This year RD$100 million is being made available. Moreover, Pe\u00f1a Guaba says the artists will get their part because he has broken up the mafia whereby the government would pay the cash to middlemen who would then pay the artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The manager said the advance funds for party animation are not a gift. Once the pandemic allows, the performances will be scheduled. Pe\u00f1a Guaba said the artists have signed contracts that establish the contractual obligations and violations.
