The Manolo Tavarez Justo Highway stretches south-north for 32.40 kilometers long and 9.5 meters wide. It runs close to the border with Haiti. It is important for transportation of farm products produced in the region, such as rice, bananas, meat and milk. The road benefits the communities of Montecristi, Pepillo Salcedo, Dajab\u00f3n and Copey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Public Works Minister Deligne stressed the road is part of the strategic development plan for the northwest. He sees the region turning into a major agro-industrial center and logistics center for intra-border and maritime trade. He also forecasts an increase in tourism investment in the region as investors take advantage of the natural beauty of the beaches and unspoiled coastal lands. The government is preparing for a tender for the construction of a major natural gas terminal at the Manzanillo Port on the northwestern coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Abinader attended the inauguration of the renovated road.
