President Luis Abinader met with representatives of the Dominican community in Spain on 18 April 2021 on his first day of the official trip to Spain and Andorra. An estimated 200,000 Dominicans live in Spain. The community requested improved passport services and inclusion in the governmental Senasa health plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Luis Abinader also met in Madrid with former Spanish Prime Ministers Felipe Gonz\u00e1lez and Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Aznar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On his first day in Spain, President Abinader met with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili at the headquarters of that organization. The talks focused on coordinating policies for the continued recovery of the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday, 19 April 2021, Abinader is to meet with the Spanish government president, Pedro S\u00e1nchez and later with King Felipe VI. The meetings are coordinated by Dominican ambassador in Spain Juan Bol\u00edvar Diaz and Spanish ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Alejandro Abell\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Abinader is accompanied by Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto \u00c1lvarez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abinader is in Europe to attend the Iberoamerican Summit to be held 20-21 April in Andorra. The Dominican Republic is the designated host of the event in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
