A Villa Altagracia court ordered one year of preventive detention against Colonel C\u00e9sar Mar\u00ed\u00f1ez Lora for the death of Elisa Mu\u00f1oz and Joel D\u00edaz. The couple was murdered by a police patrol when inside their vehicle. Mari\u00f1ez will serve the sentence in the El Polvor\u00edn jail, in Villa Mella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Others serving preventive custody in the case are lieutenant Victorino Reyes Navarro, sergeant Domingo Perdomo Reyes; corporals Norquis Rodr\u00edguez Jim\u00e9nez and \u00c1ngel de los Santos, and privates Antony Castro P\u00e9rez and Juan Samuel Ogando Sol\u00eds, members of the actual patrol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mari\u00f1ez has maintained his innocence, saying that he did not give the order to kill to his men. Two firearms assigned to the him, including a M16 automatic rifle, were used in the killing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Police has explained it was a case of mistaken identity.
