American Airlines has included the country in the new flights programmed from Austin\u2019s International Airport (AUS) in Texas. On Thursday, 10 June 2021, the airline announced four new international destinations from Austin, including the Punta Cana connection. The new routes are to meet increased customer demand. Other international routes will connect Austin to destinations in Mexico and Costa Rica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Punta Cana to Austin flight will begin 2 November and will have a frequency of four times a week. The flights will depart Austin on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the first direct connection from the Dominican Republic to Austin. Austin is regarded as one of the United States\u2019 fastest-growing metropolitan areas, with scores of companies relocating or adding satellite offices there. American Airlines expects a boom in leisure travel looking for outdoor-friendly beachside vacations starting in the fall.
