The Ministry of Tourism is funding improvements to the 4.3 km boardwalk in Santo Domingo East for RD$550 million. The Malec\u00f3n de Santo Domingo Este has an extension of 5.2 km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Santo Domingo East boardwalk starts at the military base and continues until it merges with the Las Americas Expressway. Tourism Minister David Collado said that 400 parking spaces would be added to the Avenida Espa\u00f1a boardwalk (Malec\u00f3n). A recreational park will be built with activities for the youths in the community. The works should be completed in 18 months-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The public works also include improvements to the water supply in eastern Santo Domingo province. The President also announced street paving and sidewalk building for the province of Santo Domingo, with works already begun. Asphalting of streets in Boca Chica, Andres, La Caleta and Guerra are underway and work is scheduled so that where the Santo Domingo Water Corporation (CAASD) carries out work, asphalting works follow immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public Works Minister Deligne Ascensi\u00f3n Deligne said that the government is working on the expansion of Avenida Ecol\u00f3gica and the San Isidro highway, the construction of Avenida H\u00edpica and the Andres-Boca Chica overpass and the side road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government is also funding the construction of a campus of the state university (UASD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senator Antonio Taveras (PRM-Santo Domingo) and Santo Domingo East Mayor Manuel Jim\u00e9nez were present for the presentation of the public works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
