The Dominican National Ballet (BND), the government ballet company, announced the staging of the classic ballet “Carmen” to celebrate its 40th anniversary. The BND was founded in 1981. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alina Abreu, current director of the Ballet Nacional Dominicano, announced “Carmen” will be presented free for all audiences on 19, 20 and 21 November at the M\u00e1ximo Avil\u00e9s Blonda Hall of the Palace de Bellas Artes at M\u00e1ximo G\u00f3mez and Independencia avenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With \u201cCarmen,\u201d the Palacio de Bellas Artes opens to presentations. The theater had been closed to presentations since March 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made during an event in which 15 past BND directors were recognized — Eduardo Villanueva, Magda Corbett, Carmen Heredia, Clara Elena Ram\u00edrez, Magaly Rodr\u00edguez, Miriam Bello, P\u00eda Valverde, Ninoska Vel\u00e1squez, Irmgard Despradel, Carlos Veit\u00eda, Marilouise Ventura, Mercedes Morales, M\u00f3nika Despradel, Marinella Sallent and Armando Gonz\u00e1lez. Each received a scroll of recognition from Alina Abreu and Mario Lebr\u00f3n, general director of the Palacio de Bellas Artes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Filled with pride, I preside over this meeting today with you colleagues and friends, working for our vision of dance excellence in our country,” said Ballet Nacional Dominicano director Alina Abreu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She emphasized that the company is in an “excellent physical and artistic moment to present itself as it deserves to the public who admires and enjoys good art”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
