Dominican athletes won four gold, eight silver and 10 bronze medals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the highlights of the Dominican participation in Cali was the gold won by Rosa Ang\u00e9lica Ram\u00edrez Santana, in shot put throw. She set a national record with 17.70 meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fiordaliza Cofil won gold in the 400m dash clocking in at 52.10. Cofil was part of the 4&#215;400 mixed relay that won silver in the Tokyo Olympics (Luguelin Santos, Emilio Feliz, Marileidy Paulino, Alexander Ogando and Anabel Medina).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two-time Olympic gold medalist Felix S\u00e1nchez and Yassen Perez are the coaches of the Dominican athletics team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judo was the most outstanding sport during the event with eight medals. Athletics turned in five, weightlifting and wresting three each.
