The recent awarding of cushioned pensions to people in the political and show business spheres is generating controversy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N Digital reports the pensions have met with rejection by the population because the beneficiaries are people who are known to be economically well off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among those favored with the pensions granted by the Executive Branch are the singers Vickiana and Fefita la Grande, the communicator Wilfredo Alemany, the politician Rafael Bello Andino and the wife of the deceased merengue singer Johnny Ventira, Fifa Flores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week it was published that President Abinader granted, by decree, a pension to the merenguera t\u00edpica Manuela Josefa Taveras, better known as Fefita la Grande, who had been asking for it for months. Through decree 53-20, the legendary singer was granted a pension of RD$70,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Johnny Ventura’s widow, Fifa Flores, was favored with a special pension of RD$75,000, despite the legendary merenguero’s fortune being estimated at in the millions of dollars. The pension was authorized by Decree 674-21, issued last 25 October 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abinader granted a special pension to communicator and politician Wilfredo Alemany, for RD$75,000 per month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, the Presidency increased the pension of former President Joaqu\u00edn Balaguer aide, Rafael Bello Andino to RD$150,000 (Decree 696-21).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another favored with a pension increase is singer Victoria Garcia de Oller, better known as Vickiana, to whom Abinader raised her pension to RD$69,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
