The most recent national survey that studies how people live and work in the Dominican Republic, Enhogar-2021, contains interesting facets of Dominican life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of household characteristics, 60.5% of heads of households are men and 39.5% are women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women with university or higher education are now the heads of households in over 25% of the homes. This is more than males with university-educated that headed only 20.5% of households. There was practically no difference between male and female heads of families at lower educational levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

20% of households are single-person units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding access to drinking water, 53.6% receive it inside their homes, 41.7% of these get it between two or three times a week and 28.1% less than 5 hours a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 40% of homes in the DR have at least one child of less than 15 years of age and nearly 25% of homes have at least one person of 65 or over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the key areas studied by the survey was that of disabled or impaired persons. About 5% of Dominicans over the age of five, suffer some incapacity, whether it be visual motor-related or intellectual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding Covid-19, 86.4% of the population aged 12 years and older in the country has been vaccinated with at least one dose of vaccine against Covid-19, and of this population, at least 85.9% has received two or more doses. 34.9% did not get vaccinated because of fear of the vaccine’s side effects, and 15.5% indicated that the vaccine is not recommended because of their health condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 28,000 person were surveyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
