History gives these credit for the end to the Haitian occupation of the eastern portion of the island of Hispaniola and the founding of the Dominican Republic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Duarte Institute, located in the Colonial City, maintains and reinforces the ideas espoused by the founding father. Now the Duarte foundation is organizing a \u201cPatriotic March\u201d for Saturday, 6 August 2022 to draw attention to the worsening of the crisis in neighboring Haiti. The march is aimed at calling the attention of the United States, France and Canada and other developed countries to come to the aid of Haiti. The Dominican Republic is carrying a high cost given the collapse of public services and work in Haiti. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The march will start at the Parque Col\u00f3n in the Colonial City, next to the Santo Domingo Cathedral, and end at Independence Park at the head of Conde Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The poverty, the chaos, the near total collapse of the institutions in Haiti are creating a serious, and possibly dangerous situation on the border.
