Now the<br>the National Health Service of the Dominican Republic, (SNS), alerts people to increase awareness and take measures to prevent dengue, a seasonal disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SNS says that so far this year there have been over 5,000 cases of dengue and 33 deaths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the head of Epidemiology for the SNS, the number of cases is expected to increase as people recover from Hurricane Fiona. The SNS alerts that standing water is the perfect breeding ground for the mosquito, and Fiona left a lot of water standing around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To prevent the disease, the SNS is distributing mosquito netting, cleaning up debris fields left by the hurricane, and passing out literature on how to prevent the disease.
