According to reports in Listin Diario, the authority is submitting a decree for Presidential approval that would eliminate much of the red tape associated with landing a private plane in the Dominican Republic. One of the two main obstacles is the price of Avgas, now pegged at US$7 a gallon for piston-engine aircraft. The other is the absurd amount of fees collected from private plane owners, between US$400 and US$500 at any airport in the country.
