The award honors the best individual fielding performances at each position in the American and National leagues of Major League Baseball. Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc., announced on ESPN on 1 November 2022 that Toronto Blue Jays first base Vladimir Guerrero Jr and Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pe\u00f1a are first-time winners of the prestigious award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>23-year old Guerrero became the first Toronto Blue Jays player to win the award at first base. In 2022, he had 3 Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) at first base for Toronto (a career-best).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>25-year old Pe\u00f1a made history when he introduced himself to the wider baseball world with a homer in the 18th inning of Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Seattle Mariners. He would follow that up with the AL Championship Series MVP honors against the Yankees.
