“And this gentleman is on a kind of media tour, trending on Twitter supposedly for fabulous and good things he brings,\u201d observed TV journalist Rosa Encarnaci\u00f3n. \u201cI am embarrassed that he is so proud he has the backing of the President because he constantly appears next to the President,” commented the Channel 9 8-10am news anchorwoman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was referring to Jos\u00e9 Leonel \u201cNeney\u201d Cabrera who is the head of the Strategic and Special Projects of the Presidency Agency (Propeep), a Presidency of the Republic office, and who since his appointment has been making headlines for major irregularities in the implementation of millionaire projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Encarnaci\u00f3n observed that the Abinader Administration’s Ethics Department (DIGEIG) indicated that Propeep was not able to explain the purchase and donation of paints for last year\u2019s \u201cPaint your Neighborhood at Christmas\u201d program. She also observed that the government\u2019s Procurement Agency has certified there were irregularities in the process. Encarnaci\u00f3n remarked: \u201cHe is a suspect, but he is also a happy man.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rosa Encarnaci\u00f3n and co-anchor Di\u00f3genes Pina on the program El Despertador de Noticias SIN on 9 November 2022, emphasized many of the irregularities have been aired to the general public on the El Informe con Alicia Ortega investigative journalism program. Encarnaci\u00f3n remarked: \u201cIf a person is being questioned, the person should be investigated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
