He was driving a Hyundai Santa Fe, around 4:30pm on Calle Santo Tom\u00e1s de Aquino near the intersection of Wenceslao Alvarez and Juan S\u00e1nchez Ram\u00edrez streets in the National District. G\u00f3mez was said to be an employee of the Ministry of Education who was on the way to pick up his wife, who reportedly works at the National Geographic Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An ambulance was at the site in five minutes, but it took a unit of the Fire Department around 40 minutes to come and cut the tree to release the man from his vehicle. He was not able to survive the wounds suffered and was pronounced dead once removed from the vehicle, as reported in El Dia.
