Around 150 groups representing the country&#8217;s North, South and East regions will participate. The Ministry of Culture had previously announced the parade would be on Sunday, 5 March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This is everyone&#8217;s carnival, that is why we are working on the reinforcement of security, to return this great celebration to the families,&#8221; Culture Minister Milagros Germ\u00e1n had announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Likewise, the Santo Domingo Hotels Association has set aside a special area for tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Culture organizes the event, with the collaboration of the City of Santo Domingo. Deputy Mayor Staline Alc\u00e1ntara is the president of the Carnival Committee. Samanta Olivero is the director of the Carnival Department at the Ministry of Culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Likewise, Culture Minister Germ\u00e1n had announced on 7 February that the Santiago folklorist Rafael Alm\u00e1nzar M\u00e1rmol and Diomary Celeste Castillo (Diomary La Mala) are the king and queen of the carnival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the press conference on Friday, 10 February, the city government of Santo Domingo said that the event would honor the late Patricia Ascuasiasti, who was juror of the parade for more than 36 years.
