El Caribe reports that the former US Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Wally Brewster (during the Obama administration, 2013-2017) has a home in Casa de Campo and is a consultant to the Dominican government. In an interview with Katherine Hernandez for “Siendo Honestos” on CDN, Channel 37, Wally Brewster explained that his company Patino, Brewster & Partners has an official domicile in Dallas, Texas, but he opted with his partner Bob Satawake to purchase a residence in Casa de Campo, La Romana after ending his term as ambassador in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are currently working with a couple of ministries here in the Dominican Republic in building relations with the United States,” he said. “We are also working on connecting the Haitian ambassador and his relationship with the United States and there are other governments that we are also working with,” he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brewster denied the possibility of returning to head the US mission in the DR, saying, “I don’t think it would be the right thing to do.” He justified that the Biden administration still does not have an ambassador in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He denied that bilateral relations are going through a bad moment and said the appointing of an ambassador is “a complex process. ” He explained there are some Republicans like Ted Cruz of Texas and others who can simply block a nomination even though it slows down and hurts our international relations because it slows down the process tremendously. Let’s not take it personally, there is an excellent relationship with the United States. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He spoke of Haiti as a “major challenge.” He said that people are dealing with food security issues, there is no water, they are dealing with violence and kidnapping\u2026the United States must take that leadership and that is what I am sponsoring in Washington and I will continue to advocate, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
