Adames had chosen his wife to be his deputy mayor when he was elected in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mili N\u00fa\u00f1ez, as she is known, took office after the mayor-elect, Juan Antonio Adames (Tony), was imprisoned following the ratification of the Court of Appeals of San Pedro de Macor\u00eds, for the case brought against him by the sculptor Luis Alberto Castillo, for work done and not paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Municipal Law 176-07 establishes in Art. 63 that in the temporary absence of the mayor the deputy mayor will perform the duties.
