Bachata singer Luis Segura (2020) and investigative journalist Alicia Ortega (2021) were awarded the Grand Soberano Awards on 22 March 2023 during the ceremony held at the National Theater, an Alberto Zayas production. This is the first Soberano Awards ceremony held after the Covid-19 pandemic canceled the event in March 2020. This year\u2019s event honored the best in 2021 and 2022 and served for the Arts Guide (Acroarte) and the events sponsor, Presidente Beer, to catch up with the awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Showman Julio Sabala, and TV hosts Luz Garc\u00eda and Pamela Sued lead the presentations. Urban artist El Alpha opened the ceremony. There was a recognition of the late Johnny Ventura, who died from consequences left by his bout with Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the highlights of the evening was the posthumous award to ballet dancer Patricia Ascuasiasti, the performance of Jose Alberto (el Canario) with Gilberto Santa Rosa and Tito Nieves and the singing of \u201cDominicano soy\u201d by Fernando Villalona together with several urban music singers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
