They commit to create programs to train in areas such as coastal engineering and management, marine biology, marine climate and climate change, oceanography and underwater cultural resources through scholarships granted by Mescyt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement also contemplates promoting and sponsoring postgraduate studies in maritime sciences, exchanging knowledge between professionals and researchers in national and international universities, and developing congresses, seminars and joint workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Garc\u00eda Ferm\u00edn said the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo and Degli Studi del Sannio, based in Italy, will offer a double degree student exchange program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We must act to solve the shortage of these professionals of the sea,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We can only achieve this through education and knowledge, the main means of wealth for a country,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Garc\u00eda Savi\u00f1\u00f3n explained that around 7,000 luxury vessels circulate in the seas north of the country every year. He highlighted a marked lack of workforce to attend to these ships. For this reason, we are looking for assistance abroad to strengthen the local skills in nautical tourism and maritime commerce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Authority of Maritime Affairs (Anamar) was created by Law 66-07 to provide the Dominican state with the technical, scientific and legal tools necessary for research, conservation and sustainable use of living and non-living resources of the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Present were the deputy ministers Jos\u00e9 A.
