Vice President Raquel Pe\u00f1a made a stopover in Spain before returning to the Dominican Republic after her official visit to India this past week. In Madrid, she visited the exhibition \u201cReflections of the Caribbean,\u201d organized by the Dominican Embassy at the art gallery of the AN-A Foundation. The exhibits were of eight Dominican artists who reside in Madrid — Aronis Ramos, Jeannette Alfau, Manolo Romero, Erickdony Turb\u00ed, Dahiana Blanco, Luis N\u00fa\u00f1ez, Waner Noboa, Ta\u00edna Almod\u00f3var and Carlos Segura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dominican ambassador to Spain Juan Bol\u00edvar D\u00edaz was the host. The ambassador highlighted the Embassy’s commitment to collaborate with the Dominican community residing in Spain. He spoke of the dedication and excellence of the artists participating in the exhibition and the importance of the dissemination of Dominican art beyond national borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity was one of the many that are part of Hispanic Heritage Week 2023, this year dedicated to the Dominican Republic as a guest country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other events of Hispanic Heritage Week were cooking shows, organized by the Community of Madrid, in various municipal markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the event, Vice President Pe\u00f1a spoke of how events like these serve to strengthen the ties of love, friendship and brotherhood, which have existed for many years and have remained alive because the current generations have continued to cultivate them, precisely through areas as rich and valuable as gastronomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dominican chef Omar Martin showed how to prepare a plantain mang\u00fa in the presence of the Vice President of this country and high-ranking municipal officers of Madrid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vice President was present to witness the Hispanic Parade in Madrid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also took time at the end of her schedule to meet ruling party politicians in Spain. The expat vote is important in the 2024 presidential election. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
